Sydney Soundproofing was engaged to transform a former 1,000 m² storage area at the Australian Museum into the Gadi Gallery. The space, with hard concrete floors and ceilings, suffered from excessive echo that made it unsuitable for exhibitions or evening events.
Project Challenge
The gallery’s acoustics created heavy reverberation, reducing comfort and clarity for both staff and visitors. For the museum to use the space effectively, echo control was critical.
Our Acoustic Solution
-
Absorptive panels were installed on structural columns.
-
Large acoustic ceiling panels were fitted across the gallery.
This combination reduced reverberation dramatically, creating a balanced and functional acoustic environment.
The Results
Today, the Gadi Gallery is a vibrant exhibition and event space. Visitors experience improved comfort, and the museum can host evening functions with clear sound and reduced echo.
